 IMD issues yellow alert for Delhi: Rain and thunderstorms to possibly provide relief from heat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, stating that on Saturday it may rain with thunderstorms. The city is likely to remain mainly cloudy and light to moderate rain will fall, accompanied by lightning and winds gusting at 30-40 kmph and occasionally reaching 50 kmph during thunderstorms.

Below average maximum temperatures of 36°C to 38°C and a minimum temperature of 28°C shall be recorded, giving some slight relief from the discomfort of heat.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality status improved and entered the ‘Satisfactory’ category on June 28 with an AQI of 86, marking a significant improvement from the pre-monsoon conditions with overcast skies, which saw the city in moderate levels for the past few days.
